The Salvation Army of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee thanks everyone for their questions regarding support for Hurricane Harvey victims. In an effort to keep our local community informed they are sharing these available resources to stay informed in the wake of this hurricane and any upcoming disaster.
The Salvation Army has a robust divisional, national and international disaster response network (resources and trained personnel) that stands ready to be activated in the wake of a disaster. Their hallmark is the provision of mass feeding (though they do offer emotional and spiritual care and disaster social services, among other things).
Staff and resources (mobile shower units, sleeping units, etc.) have been deployed from the Florida Division. As of this email, no requests have been made for Fort Myers Area Command staff or volunteers.
